Composition

Each gram of ointment contains chloramphenicol 20mg & Vitamin A (as propionate) 15,000IU.

Action

Chloramphenicol is a Broad spectrum, bacteriostatic antibiotic, active against most germs producing ophthalmic infections.

Owing to its strong penetration and broad action Alfasan eye ointment is not only indicated for surface treatments, but also for infections with in the eyeball.
Vitamin A contributes to maintaining the epithelium of the cornea.

Indications

Keratitis, conjunctivitis, ulcus corneae, all ophthalmic infections.

Dosage and Administration

Apply minimal four times daily. Small amount of ointment should be placed in the lower conjunctival sac. Treatment to be continued for minimal 5 days.

Contra-indication

Pseudomonas infections.

Conservation

At room temperature (15-25 degree Celcius), protected from light.
