Bupaq containing buprenorphine is the drug of choice for the management of moderate to severe and long lasting pain. Buprenorphine is a partial opioid agonist with very strong analgetic properties and a long duration of action. It potentiates the effects of other centrally acting agents.
Onset of action of buprenorphine is 30 to 45 minutes after administration, duration of action is up to eight hours. Bupaq is recommended for pre-and postsurgical analgesia in long lasting interventions with expected moderate to severe pain.
