Cerumene Ear Drops (squalane 25%) can be used as an ear‑cleansing solution in dogs and cats, but it is not always a full “replacement” for other ear cleaners or medicated drops. Cerumene is a ceruminolytic agent: it softens and loosens earwax and debris, making them easier to flush out during cleaning.

Cerumene is not an antimicrobial or anti‑inflammatory treatment, so it cannot replace medicated ear drops used for otitis externa (bacterial, fungal, or allergic).
